In Orlando Florida three deputies had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit in an accident near the University of Central Florida.
Troopers said the deputies were directing traffic at the intersection of Alafaya Trail and Corporate Boulevard because of a water main break that happened late Monday night.
According to troopers, a woman was driving south on Alafaya Trail just before 1:30 a.m. when she approached the construction area. The woman said she didn’t see the flashing lights or road flares until it was too late and slammed on the brakes, according to FHP. Troopers said the woman’s car skidded down the road and struck an Orange County deputy’s patrol car. Three deputies that were in the roadway, were forced to jump out of the way when they heard the screeching tires, according to FHP. “It was a very close call. The officers would have been hit if they would not have been there and heard at the last second the squealing of the tires, they would have been hit by this car,” said FHP Trooper Montague Haight.
Troopers said the woman responsible for the accident was issued a ticket for careless driving.
